We’re proud to share that the Cabildo de La Palma has awarded XRF the contract to implement an advanced software system for emergency planning and management on the island.
Over the next few months, we’ll be tailoring and deploying XRF.Compass—our multi-device Extended Intelligence platform—so it can support the specific needs of La Palma. The goal is clear: improve how emergencies are planned, visualized, controlled, and managed, with a special focus on wildfire response but extensible to all types of emergencies.
With XRF.Compass, all intervening administrations will be able to meet in shared virtual command rooms—represented by individualized avatars—where up to 20 users can interact simultaneously, sharing voice, data, and operational content in real time, without geographical limits.
The platform will also integrate real-time GPS tracking of assets, personnel, UAVs, and onboard cameras, enabling a fully synchronized situational picture. AI-powered vision algorithms will analyze video feeds to detect anomalies, objects, and patterns, while simulation tools will let us replicate complex fire behavior and evolving weather and terrain conditions in immersive 3D.
Another key innovation is the ability to train AI models with local emergency protocols, providing real-time recommendations and enabling immersive training for first responders. Hybrid simulations will combine virtual elements with physical assets like drones, vehicles, sensors, and medical teams, making exercises more effective without the risks of real environments.
Through XRF.Compass, UAVs will also be teleoperated directly from the platform—compatible with MAVLINK or ROS protocols—allowing operators to define waypoint routes and automate aerial monitoring.
Finally, the system will be customized with GIS layers from institutions like the Cabildo de La Palma, the Canary Islands Government, and Spain’s national agencies, ensuring that the platform is fully adapted to the island’s terrain and conditions.
At XRF, we believe Extended Intelligence can make the difference in critical moments. Being selected to help protect La Palma is not just a project—it’s a responsibility we embrace with total commitment.
